What started out to be something of a 'lark' has, after only one session, turned into an obsession.
After developing my company web site, I thought is a good idea to learn HTML - the correct way. The site turned out very well, but there were, it seems, some hiccups. Completing LVS' HTML Level I course, along with some serious coding adjustments from my cousin in Florida (thanks, Don), I have made some major corrections to that site. And now, it looks much better.
Having enjoyed the Level I HTML course so much, I signed up for HTML II, then CSS. and finally XHTML/SSI There's just no stopping me.
With any site, one needs graphics, so I bought a little program called Paint Shop Pro 7, thinking I'd knock out some graphics and be on my way. After all, how hard could this be? I'd worked with other graphics programs; this one couldn't be that much different. Or could it?
After fooling with PSP 7 for about a month, I signed up for the Getting Started class, which was revamped and is now called PSP 7 Apprentice. That was so much fun, I couldn't WAIT to register for PSP 7 Journeyman, and so on. During all this, Vector Graphics seemed like a good place to go with PSP, so I signed up for that! Subsequently those terrific folks over at JASC released Version 8 and the story reinvents itself.
After what seemed like a summer break that would never end, classes started back and so did I -- with Vector Graphics II, HTML II, PSP 7 Apprentice, and Search Engine courses. And that was the last session I took 4 classes concurrently. Egads.
From there, it was Flash MX and a course to learn yet ANOTHER software program I just HAD to have, DreamWeaver. Yes, the die-hard 1st Page 2000 user is now a Dreamweaver fanatic!
Then along came March 2003, and the line up consisted of Flash MX II and PSP - Masters, which everyone tells me is "easy". Yah, I've heard THAT before! Then, at the 11th hour, I was "coerced" into taking Fireworks -- seems there are lessons
devoted to web sets! Yep, got sucked right into that. I LOVE WEBSETS!!!!!
Quit now? Not a chance. May, 2003 brought a couple of new courses to the LVS lineup: PSP version 8 and Dreamweaver MX Level II. I couldn't resist either of them! I also thought it best to take Flash III as well. I didn't want to risk going through the entire summer break and completely forget everything I learned in Flash I and II. After that came Flash FX Effects -- what a riot THAT class was!
It's now well into 2004 and to list ALL the classes I've taken at
LVS would run this page over the county line, so suffice it to say,
I may have scaled back in the "quantity" of lessons I take each
session but there isn't a session that passes where I'm not on the
roster. In 2002, LVS asked me to join their staff. Of course I was
nothing less than delighted and continue to look forward to each session
with a renewed vigor.
So, take a break from your hectic day, cruise around, see what I've been up to. If you have time, stop by my company web site. Yeah, I know, that's a disgusting marketing ploy, but I can't help myself.
